Okay for a minute I thought this display dish/bowl/whatever you want to call it was toast. I was fighting with a ton of tearout, I eventually busted through the thin part where that bark inclusion is on the back and left a little hole in there, and I thought “oh great, this is gonna be un-sellable, what a waste of such a cool piece of wood” — but I went ahead and oiled it anyway and, look, is it a perfectly turned piece? Absolutely not. Is it still stunning?? I mean, duh.
